New Years Resolution - Still struggling?

Hey everyone!


     I hope your 2020 is off to a good start. There is something about the New Year that gets us excited to make a positive change. New year, new me, new HABITS!! If you have been struggling with your resolution or struggling to even start, here are two quick tips. Write it down then break it down...

WRITE IT DOWN. Pick a goal or a life change, or any kind of change. Once you have it, write it down and place it somewhere where you will see it every day. On your bedroom door, bathroom mirror, anywhere! Writing down your goal(s) makes them more real. It won't just be a thought anymore and you will feel more determined to want to accomplish it/them. 

BREAK IT DOWN. If training/teaching self defense and fitness has taught me anything its that no matter how hard or complex a move is it can always be broken down into smaller more manageable pieces. The same principle applies to achieving goals. A lot of folks give up because the goal seems so far away or unattainable. Lets take eating healthier for example (one of the more popular goals). If you start cold turkey you will more than likely crash, not always, but in my experience it doesn't usually go well. Instead, break it down in to smaller more manageable goals. Start with something like adding more water into your daily routine for a few days to a week or two. Then, start substituting a portion of healthy whole foods into your daily nutrition in place of something processed and then every week or two sub another. That might have been an overly simplistic example, but you can see where I am going with it. You can literally do this with ANYTHING!!
